Christmas 2009

We had such a blessed Christmas! It was so much more fun to have a little one around for the holidays. Our first trip to see Santa was definitely a learning experience. We of course had to go to the Northpark Santa, but we had no idea how the system worked. My mom, sis, Sandy, Clayton and l all drove over to Dallas, which was quite the production to get everyone ready and loaded up for an afternoon in Dallas. Nick took the afternoon off work and met us at the mall. We were all excited and ready to see Santa and when we walked up I thought the line looked surprisingly short. So we jumped in line and asked one of the moms what the white piece of paper she was holding was all about. She told us that she had to get there at 9am to get her number to see Santa and they had just called her number at 2pm. So, needless to say, we did not get to see Santa that day, it was kind of a bummer, but at least Clayton was too young to realize what was going on or else he would have probably had a complete meltdown from the disappointment. Nick, Augie, Clayton and I went back that Sunday and followed their system and got to see Santa with no problems, other than Clayton was kind of scared of him. He was asleep when we got to the mall, so we let him sleep in his stroller until about 5 minutes before it was his turn to see Santa. When we handed him over to Santa, he looked up at him and stuck his little lip out and started crying. It was the typical first encounter with Santa reaction.

We had some of my family over for fajitas on Christmas Eve and we decided to open some of our presents. Clayton enjoyed the presents a lot more than I thought he would. I didn’t think he would really understand what was going on, but he helped tear the wrapping off of his first present and was in awe of what was inside. His first present to open was an airplane that he can ride on and that has a front propeller that moves and lights up. He loved it! We had so much fun watching his reaction to each gift.

Giddy up Cowboy!

On Christmas Day, we did Santa in the morning. Clayton didn’t know what to think of all of the toys that Santa had laid out for him. He just jumped from toy to toy touching each thing. We had a blast showing him everything. Then we went to Lora and Jonathan’s for Christmas with Nick’s side. They always do an Italian style Christmas and it is so yummy. Clayton really loaded up with lots of toys and clothes. Then we went to my parents for dinner with all of my family. It was a busy but great day!
Santa brought Clayton lots of fun toys!

Aw! That Santa pic is so sad (but cute at the same time)! You can definitely tell who his parents are... he looks so much like both of you!

He is so cute!! We did the same thing...Met Rowdy for lunch on a work day and luckily pulled on the line police heart strings enough to squeeze in line b/c no one was there 4 the called number! Dumb system right?!? Looking at Clayton pics makes me smile cuz he always looks SO happy! Sweet baby boy!

Hello! Looks like you all had a very fun Christmas, I recognoze some of those toys. Isn't it fun with a baby! We had a blast too. I'm so sorry to hear he was so sick, that's really scary but glad to hear he is doing better. Happy New Year.
